About the Role

CarePro is seeking a compassionate, reliable and motivated Disability Support Worker to support a participant living in Foster, Gippsland. The participant has mental health challenges and psychosocial disability and would benefit from a patient, understanding support worker who can provide consistent, person-centred support.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in gardening and be comfortable assisting the participant with gardening activities as part of their regular support. We are looking for someone who can build a positive, trusting relationship and encourage the participant's independence, wellbeing and community engagement.

Initial shifts: 4 hours per shift, 3–4 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide person-centred support to a participant with mental health and psychosocial disability.
- Encourage independence, confidence, social engagement and emotional wellbeing.
- Build a positive, respectful and trusting relationship with the participant.
- Assist with gardening and outdoor activities, including maintaining the garden where appropriate.
- Support daily living activities and routines as required.
- Encourage participation in meaningful activities that promote wellbeing and quality of life.
- Provide calm, patient and non-judgemental support, using a trauma-informed approach.
- Follow the participant's support plan, CarePro policies and relevant NDIS requirements.
- Maintain accurate shift notes and report any incidents or concerns in accordance with organisational procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will:

- Have experience supporting people with mental health conditions and psychosocial disabilities.
- Have a genuine interest in gardening, with practical gardening knowledge or experience highly regarded.




- Be patient, empathetic, reliable and respectful.
- Have good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Be able to work independently while following support plans and professional boundaries.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality, dignity, choice and participant independence.
- Be willing to build a consistent and supportive relationship with the participant.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have the relevant checks, qualifications and compliance documents required for the role, including:

- Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or equivalent), or a relevant qualification as required for the position.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- Working With Children Check, if required for the role.
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
- Valid Australian driver's licence and reliable transport, if required for the shifts.
- Evidence of work rights in Australia.
- Any other mandatory training, checks and documentation required by CarePro and the NDIS.
