Description

Construct, install, assemble, maintain and repair timber structures and fittings using wood, plywood, wallboard and other building materials. Measure, cut and shape materials according to construction plans and specifications to ensure accurate installation and structural alignment.

Tasks

- Measuring, cutting and shaping timber and other building materials according to the requirements of each construction project.
- * Constructing and installing wall frames, roof frames and flooring structures, ensuring all components are level, straight and correctly aligned.
- * Reading and interpreting building plans, drawings and specifications to identify measurements, required materials and installation methods.
- * Fitting and installing door and window frames, fascia boards, roof sheeting and external wall cladding.
- * Repairing, replacing and maintaining damaged timber structures and existing carpentry fittings when required.
- * Selecting and ordering suitable timber and other construction materials, as well as preparing layouts before beginning work.
- * Preparing and cutting timber joints to ensure accurate fitting and strong connections between structural components.
- * Working with various materials, including timber, plywood, plastic laminates, Perspex and metal fittings, depending on project requirements.




- * Assembling prepared timber components and securing them using suitable tools, nails, screws and other fixings to form structures and fittings ready for installation.

Qualifications and Skills:

- Certificate III in Carpentry or a minimum of one year of relevant work experience in carpentry or a similar construction role.
- Practical knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, timber and other building materials.
- Ability to read and interpret building plans, drawings and specifications.
- Experience in measuring, cutting, shaping and assembling timber components.
- Knowledge of wall framing, roof framing, flooring, doors, windows and external cladding installation.
- Ability to use carpentry tools and equipment safely and correctly.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to complete work to the required quality standards.
- Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with other trades and team members.
- Understanding of construction site safety requirements and maintaining a clean, safe work workplace.
- Good communication, time management and problem-solving skills.

Job summary

a reliable Carpenter with a Certificate III in Carpentry or at least one year of relevant experience. Must have practical carpentry skills.

Pay: $80,000.00 – $90,000.00 per year
