Senior Consultant / Manager - Asset Management, Risk & Operations

About the Role

This is a hands-on consulting role for someone who wants real ownership, visible impact and the freedom to do their best work. You will work directly with operational leaders, engineers, asset managers and executives to improve how critical infrastructure is planned, operated and maintained—from strategy through to implementation.

We expect to appoint at Senior Consultant or Manager level, with scope to grow as Blackstart grows. Exceptional candidates with Director-level experience who are excited by the opportunity to help build the business are also encouraged to apply.

Projects may include:

- Asset management improvement programs

- Asset management maturity assessments

- Reliability and maintenance improvement initiatives

- Operational readiness and operational excellence programs

- Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) advisory

- Risk-informed investment and decision-making frameworks

- Operating model and organisational effectiveness reviews





You will be trusted to lead workstreams, facilitate workshops, challenge thinking, engage senior stakeholders and develop practical recommendations that clients can put to work. You will also have a voice in how Blackstart grows—helping shape our methods, capability and culture.

About You

You may currently work within Energy, Utilities, Mining, Infrastructure or Consulting.

You might be an engineer, asset manager, reliability specialist, operations advisor or management consultant.

We’re looking for people who combine technical understanding with consulting craft: curious thinkers who can make sense of complexity, build trust quickly and turn insight into action.

Ideally you will have:

- An engineering, business or related tertiary qualification

- Experience within energy, utilities, mining or other asset-intensive industries

- Experience leading projects, workstreams or client engagements

- Solid facilitation, communication and report-writing skills

- Experience translating analysis into practical outcomes

- A desire to help clients improve performance rather than simply produce reports

Consulting experience is highly regarded but not essential.
