About Us

Assisi Aged Care (Assisi) is a not-for-profit residential aged care service (140 beds) located in the leafy north eastern Melbourne suburb of Rosanna. It is a not-for-profit religious and charitable organisation for Melbourne’s elderly Italian community who are predominantly of the Catholic faith. Assisi is close to public transport and 30 minutes from Melbourne's central business district.

The Role

Are you an AHPRA Registered Nurse, with experience working night and afternoon shift in residential aged care settings, who is looking to join a supportive team? If so, Assisi Aged Care would like to hear from you.

We have a casual position to join our workforce of registered nurses, enrolled nurses, personal care workers, and other support staff, to fill in vacant shifts due to leave of other registered nurses predominantly in the afternoon and night period. Whilst this is not an in-charge role, there may be opportunities to gain experience in after hours supervisor roles. This is an ideal development chance. You must possess permanent working rights or be an Australian citizen.

Responsibilities:

- Provide clinical nursing assessment and best practice care strategies that support the physical, social, emotional, independence, and spiritual needs of residents, and evaluate care strategies provided.

- Deliver nursing care and services that meet residents' needs and preferences and the care plan.

- Identify clinical risks and actions and escalate to senior clinical managers as necessary.

- Document all care provided.

- Work cooperatively with,



mentor and lead personal care workers, enrolled nurses and liaise effectively with other members of the care team, including GPs and allied health professionals.

- Engage with residents and their families and representatives to maximise effective care outcomes.

- Other duties in accordance with the registered nurse position description

Key Selection Criteria

- Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent

- AHPRA registration

- Prior nursing experience in an aged residential setting. Familiarity with night shift is preferable.

- Effective time management, work ethic, and organisational skills

- Effective interpersonal skills and empathy for older persons

- Sound computer skills

- The permanent right to work in Australia

- Strong and flexible shift availability

- The ability to speak Italian is highly regarded, but not essential.

It is recommended employees are vaccinated against COVID-19 (3 vaccinations) and influenza
