Director, Talent Strategy and Organisational Effectiveness
The opportunity
As Director, Talent Strategy and Organisational Effectiveness, you will help shape the future of Talent in EY Oceania. As an embedded member of the Talent Leadership Team, you will lead the development of an integrated Talent strategy and the evolution of our Talent operating model, connecting priorities across portfolios and accelerating the strategic change already underway.
Your initial focus will be to bring dedicated capacity to accelerate work already underway, building on our already high-performing Talent function to advance a more connected, contemporary and sustainable operating model. This includes service delivery, technology, AI and automation, and the experience of our people and leaders. Over time, your remit will expand to enterprise workforce strategy, organisational effectiveness and work design, and workforce intelligence and insights.
Across all areas of the role, you will draw on your expertise to identify and manage risks, shape strategic priorities, and provide evidence-based advice to the Oceania People and Culture Leader, TLT and relevant governance forums.
This role can be performed from any of our EY offices across Australia and New Zealand. Our roles can potentially be adjusted to work flexibly with reduced hours. Please speak with us about potential options.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Talent leaders to shape and drive an integrated Oceania Talent strategy and roadmap,
maintaining an enterprise view of initiatives, dependencies, sequencing, investment needs, gaps and execution risks to support collective TLT decisions.
- Partner with and provide strategic advice to key internal stakeholders including Talent, Global and Technology teams to align the Oceania Talent operating model with global strategy, platforms and standards, using Oceania insights to shape global solutions.
- Work with Talent leaders and teams to co-design and drive opportunities to simplify, standardise, digitise and better connect Talent services, grounded in employee and leader needs, service requirements, risk and future capability needs.
- Lead the translation of strategy and operating-model choices into practical change, bringing stakeholders and teams with us and ensuring benefits are realised sustainably.
- Identify and highlight external trends, emerging workforce practices and both global and regional developments, to inform and support TLT strategy and prioritisation.
- Define an enterprise workforce-planning framework and skills architecture, including enabling consistent Service Line planning, factoring in workforce demand, capability needs, constraints and dependencies.
- Establish and evolve the enterprise workforce intelligence agenda, bringing together data, business forecasts, labour-market intelligence and emerging trends to identify workforce opportunities,
risks and capability gaps, and to provide decision-useful insights and recommendations to senior leaders.
- Assess and advise on how technology, AI, business-model, market and regulatory shifts affect workforce shape, skills and location, and guide choices against inclusion, critical-capability and human-judgement guardrails.
- Build enterprise capability to redesign work holistically across processes, technology, roles, skills and delivery models.
Skills And Attributes For Success
- Senior experience leading complex enterprise Talent, workforce or functional transformation.
- Robust knowledge of contemporary Talent operating models, workforce strategy, organisational effectiveness and work design, with the ability to translate strategy and emerging technology into practical choices.
- Commercial, financial and technology fluency, including responsible AI, data, risk and human oversight.
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders, lead through ambiguity and build enterprise frameworks without displacing business or portfolio accountability.
- A record of disciplined, technology-enabled delivery through consultation, capability building and benefits realisation.
