About the Role

Altitude Supports and Coordination is seeking a friendly, compassionate and experienced Disability Support Worker to join our growing team in the Atherton Tablelands.

This casual position will primarily involve providing dedicated, one-on-one support to a participant living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in the beautiful Lake Barrine area, with opportunities for additional shifts supporting other participants across the Atherton Tablelands.

The role offers a rewarding mix of personal care, assistance with everyday activities, community outings and supporting the participant in her professional workplace.

We are seeking an experienced Support Worker who is confident providing hands‑on personal care and mobility assistance. The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities or similar care needs, along with a compassionate nature, positive attitude and excellent communication skills.

As the position involves assisting with mobility, transfers and personal care, applicants should be comfortable in an active, hands‑on role and have the physical capacity to safely carry out these duties using appropriate equipment and techniques.

Experience supporting individuals with MS is highly regarded but not essential. Guidance and training will be provided to familiarise the successful applicant with the participant's individual needs, preferences and routines.

Most importantly,

we're looking for someone who enjoys building genuine connections, has a good sense of humour and takes pride in providing respectful, high-quality support.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide friendly, respectful and person-centred support with everyday activities.

- Assist with personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming and toileting.

- Support mobility and transfers using appropriate equipment and safe manual handling practices.

- Assist with meal preparation, household tasks and daily routines.

- Support participation in community outings, shopping, appointments and social activities.

- Assist the participant in her professional workplace with everyday tasks, communication and preparation of materials.

- Support participation in individual exercise and therapy routines as directed by allied health professionals and relevant support plans.

- Recognise and respond appropriately to changes in mobility, fatigue and support needs.

- Maintain clear and accurate case notes and communicate with the support team to ensure consistent, quality care.

- Promote independence, dignity, choice and control in all aspects of support.

There may also be opportunities to provide support to other participants,

with duties varying according to their individual needs and goals.

What We're Looking For

We believe that great support workers bring a combination of practical experience, compassion and a genuine commitment to the people they support.

We're looking for someone who:

- Has previous hands‑on experience providing personal care and mobility assistance to people with disabilities or similar support needs.

- Is confident and capable when assisting with daily living activities and personal care.

- Is caring, friendly, patient and respectful.

- Has a positive attitude and enjoys building meaningful professional relationships.

- Is reliable, punctual and committed to providing consistent support.

- Is comfortable with the physical aspects of the role and can safely undertake mobility assistance and transfers.

- Can work independently while also being part of a supportive team.

- Has excellent communication skills and a skilled approach.

- Is observant, adaptable and able to respond appropriately to changing support needs.

- Values participant independence, dignity, privacy and choice.
