Senior Business Development Manager – Tourism & Partnerships

$90,000 – $100,000 per year+ annual bonus

MetFly is an exciting new flying cinema attraction coming soon to The District Docklands, developed by the team behind Metartworld. With its flagship venue in Port Melbourne spanning approximately 4,000 square metres, Metartworld brings together spectacular scrap metal art, immersive exhibitions and interactive entertainment, creating a must-visit destination for art, discovery and adventure in Melbourne.

Building on this foundation, MetFly will offer visitors a unique cinematic journey showcasing Melbourne. We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Senior Business Development Manager – Tourism & Partnerships to establish our market presence, develop strategic partnerships and drive sustainable revenue growth. This is a key role for a results-oriented qualified with a strong understanding of Melbourne’s tourism industry, an established network of industry contacts, and a proven ability to turn business relationships into commercial success.

Key responsibilities

Develop and execute business development strategies to establish MetFly as a recognised cultural tourism attraction in Melbourne

Identify, approach and secure new business opportunities across the tourism, hospitality, education and corporate sectors

Proactively build and manage a pipeline of prospective partners, group bookings and recurring business opportunities

Develop and implement strategies to increase visitor numbers, ticket sales and overall revenue

Take ownership of business development initiatives from initial prospecting and negotiation through to partnership agreements and sales conversion

Establish and maintain long-term relationships with local and interstate travel agencies, tour operators, inbound tour operators and destination management companies

Develop commercial partnerships with hotels, accommodation providers, tourism wholesalers and relevant booking platforms

Negotiate partnership agreements, commission structures, group rates,



ticketing arrangements and package deals to drive consistent bookings

Develop and maintain relationships with primary schools, secondary schools, educational institutions and school excursion organisers

Drive ticket sales, group bookings and partnership revenue through proactive B2B sales and business development activities

About you

Substantial experience in business development, tourism sales or commercial partnerships, preferably within the tourism, attractions, hospitality or travel industry

An established network of contacts among travel agencies, tour operators, hotels, schools or other relevant industry partners in Melbourne

Proven ability to generate new business and deliver measurable revenue growth through strategic partnerships and B2B sales

A demonstrated track record of identifying new opportunities, acquiring clients, negotiating commercial agreements and converting leads into revenue

Strong sales, negotiation, presentation and relationship management skills

A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to initiate conversations, pitch partnership opportunities and close deals

The ability to work independently, manage a sales pipeline and take ownership of business development outcomes

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English

Mandarin language skills would be highly regarded but are not essential.
