About the Opportunity

Humero Recruitment Partners are exclusively partnering with a well-established engineering services organisation, part of a growing international group, to recruit an Assistant Accountant for a permanent, full time role based in Brisbane’s inner northern suburbs.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer or Accounts Officer ready to step up into a broader role with real responsibility. You’ll gain hands‑on exposure across month‑end reporting, asset and inventory accounting, and operational finance, while taking your first steps into team leadership within a close-knit, supportive finance team.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the delivery of accurate financial reporting, strong financial controls and the integrity of accounting records across a multi‑site business. You will supervise two team members and provide cross‑functional cover across payables, receivables and payroll, making this a varied role with plenty of day‑to‑day ownership.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with monthly management accounts and reporting packs, including journals, accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules, and support inventory accounting
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis




- Support audit preparation and uphold financial controls across the business
- Supervise two finance team members and provide leave cover across AP, AR and Payroll as required

About You

- Diploma in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent), with current studies towards a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Commerce or Finance
- Approximately 2+ years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, Accounts Officer or similar role
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and month‑end processes
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with an ERP or accounting system
- Experience in an asset‑intensive industry such as engineering, manufacturing, logistics or maintenance highly regarded
- Proactive, detail‑oriented and keen to progress towards CPA or CA studies
