Colac Otway Shire Council is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Tourism Assistant to join the team at the Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre in Apollo Bay. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about tourism, hospitality, customer service, and promoting the incredible experiences our region has to offer.

As a key point of contact for visitors and residents, you'll provide exceptional customer service, deliver local tourism information, support local businesses, and help create memorable experiences that encourage visitors to stay longer and explore more of our region.

About the Role

Reporting to the Coordinator Great Ocean Road Visitor Information Centre, you will:

- Welcome and assist visitors with accommodation, attractions, tours, events and local information.
- Provide exceptional customer service via face-to-face, telephone and electronic enquiries.
- Support the day-to-day operations of the Visitor Information Centre.
- Maintain tourism and business information databases.
- Process retail sales, cashiering and administrative tasks.
- Promote online services and visitor resources.
- Assist local tourism operators with business listings and marketing opportunities.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative and customer-focused team environment.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Experience in tourism, hospitality,



events or a similar customer-focused industry.
- Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong administration and computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
- An interest in promoting the local region and tourism experiences.
- The ability to multitask, use initiative and work effectively within a team.
- A current driver's licence.

Salary information:$71,667.44 to $75,515.44 per annum pro rata plus superannuation
