SIL House Team Leader – Greensborough - Service For One
Location: Greensborough
Disability Support Model: 24/7 Supported Independent Living (SIL)
2:1 Support Shifts: Night shifts (3 per week) 5pm start - finish 9am following morning
Are you an engaging, energetic leader who knows how to operate a SIL House in accordance with SIL Standards meeting compliance?
You must know how to set up, organize and maintain SIL house operations, prior experience in how to train the support team to deliver those standards consistently.
We are seeking an experienced and confident SIL House Team Leader to maintain and contribute to the setup and ongoing operation of a Supported Independent Living home in Greensborough. This role combines direct hands‑on support with on‑shift leadership, ensuring the home runs safely, smoothly, and in line with NDIS Practice Standards.
This SIL House is supported 2:1 x 24 hours per day x 7 days a week.
This is a practical supervisory role — you will guide staff, support the participant, and maintain safety and documentation. This role does not include rostering or budgeting responsibilities. This is not an Administration role, it is hands on.
Team Jake is looking for a confident, hands-on Residential SIL House Team Leader who can bring fun, personality and positivity to the home of a man with complex support needs, while ensuring the house operates to the standards required by the NDIS and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
This is a unique opportunity to combine genuine on the ground person-centered support with operational leadership. We want someone who enjoys building relationships, brings energy and humor to everyday life, and knows how to balance an engaging approach with explicit boundaries, safety and professional accountability.
The role
Working closely with the Director and Operations Supervisor,
you will take an active role in establishing and maintaining the house's SIL operational systems, documentation, policies, procedures and quality standards.
You will be responsible for:
- SIL Operations: Establishing and maintaining house systems, procedures, registers, checklists and documentation in line with applicable NDIS Practice Standards and organizational requirements.
- Staff Leadership & Training: Inducting, mentoring and training support workers so they understand their responsibilities, follow participant support plans and consistently apply house procedures.
- Compliance & Quality: Monitoring staff practices, identifying gaps, maintaining accurate records, following up outstanding actions and helping prepare the house for audits and reviews.
- Engaging Support: Building a positive relationship with the participant and bringing fun, energy, initiative and meaningful activities into his everyday life.
- Complex Support & Safety: Understanding autism, intellectual disability, bipolar disorder, epilepsy, behaviors of concern and communication difficulties, and ensuring relevant support, risk and emergency plans are followed.
- House Management: Maintaining a safe, organized home, effective handovers and clear communication between staff and management.
This is a hands-on position, not an office-based management role. You must be willing to lead by example and remain actively involved in participant support.
The person we are looking for
You are someone who is fun and engaging with the participant,
organized and accountable with the team, and serious about compliance.
You will have:
- Demonstrated experience in a senior disability support, SIL team leader or house supervisor role.
- Practical knowledge of how to establish and maintain SIL house operations, documentation and compliance systems.
- The confidence and ability to train staff, set expectations and address inconsistent practice.
- Experience supporting people with complex disabilities, epilepsy and behaviors of concern, including people with limited verbal communication.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, documentation and computer skills.
- A Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services or equivalent relevant qualification.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, Australian driver's license, First Aid and CPR, medication administration certified
- Experience with behavior support plans, medication procedures and epilepsy management, including prescribed rescue medication arrangements.
