Community SOS is seeking volunteer Board Directors to help oversee the organisation and support its vision of “Supporting Community, Reaching Out With Care”.

Key responsibilities include
Act in the best interests of Community SOS and support its vision, purpose and values.
Contribute to the organisation’s governance, strategic direction and business planning.
Help ensure the organisation is managed constitutionally, legally and financially, and that relevant policies and procedures are in place and followed.
Exercise reasonable care, prepare for and participate in Board meetings, and contribute constructively to discussions and decisions.
Help oversee the organisation’s financial position, budgets, resources and accountability obligations.
Protect confidential information and the organisation’s reputation, and identify and manage conflicts of interest.
Participate in strategic or business planning meetings as required.

We welcome people with skills or experience in areas such as law or employment law, human resources, project management, community development, finance or other relevant fields.



Directors do not need to have all of these skills; a range of perspectives and experience is valued.

Community SOS supports the Central Coast community through:
Financial counselling and capability
No Interest Loan Scheme (NILS)
Emergency relief and information and referral
The People’s Pantry / food pantry and food rescue
Energy bill assistance
Community education and social wellbeing programs
Community centre and venue hire
Community strengthening activities

1.5 - 2hour meetings held every two months (plus reading board documents and emails before meetings to prepare). Any other meetings as appropriate (such as strategic planning and Annual General Meetings)
