The Internal Sales Representative is responsible for providing professional customer service, managing sales enquiries, preparing quotations, processing orders and supporting the day-to-day sales operations of Newcastle Steel Distributors. The position involves working directly with trade customers, businesses, contractors and members of the public to identify their steel requirements and provide accurate product information, pricing and availability. The successful applicant will be expected to develop a sound understanding of the company's products, build strong customer relationships and work closely with warehouse and delivery personnel to ensure orders are completed accurately and efficiently.
Key responsibilities
Respond to customer enquiries by telephone, email and at the sales counter
Assist customers with steel product selection, sizes, grades and availability
Prepare accurate and competitive quotations
Process customer orders and sales transactions
Follow up outstanding quotations and customer enquiries
Maintain positive relationships with existing customers
Identify prospects to increase sales and develop repeat business
Provide customers with accurate information regarding pricing, stock availability and delivery timeframes
Develop and maintain knowledge of the company's steel product range
Maintain accurate customer records and account information
