The USI will help governments and the education sector understand student pathways and outcomes, and will support better planning, policy and decisions.About the RoleThe department is looking for an experienced Business Analyst to join the Schools USI project.
You will connect the project's policy objectives with business processes, technology solutions and stakeholder needs, and turn policy intent into clear, practical requirements for implementation.This 12-month contract starts in January ****.Key DutiesAnalyse existing policies, regulations and frameworks to assess their impact on business operationsIdentify gaps, inefficiencies and risks in how current policies are implementedDevelop and refine policy documents,



business rules and compliance guidelinesMake sure policy recommendations align with legislative requirements and industry best practiceDocument and analyse business processes to understand how policies work in practiceWork with business units to find areas for policy-driven process improvementDevelop process models and workflows to support policy changesTranslate policy objectives into functional and non-functional business requirementsPrepare transparent documentation, including business requirements documents (BRDs), user stories and policy impact assessmentsHelp IT teams interpret policy requirements for system implementationKey Skills and CapabilitiesDemonstrated experience in policy analysis, business analysis and process improvementDemonstrated experience working in an education and training portfolioAbility to translate policy objectives into practical business and technology requirementsStrong stakeholder engagement, consultation and facilitation skillsExperience developing business requirements, process maps, user stories and policy documentationSound analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to assess risks, impacts and implementation considerationsExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing briefs, reports and recommendations
