Custom Quip Engineering (CQE) is seeking a capable Mechanical Draftsperson to support the design and manufacture of quality transport equipment from our Kenwick facility.
You will produce detailed CAD models, drawings and manufacturing documentation across new builds, custom equipment, repairs and modification projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with truck, trailer or heavy transport drafting experience who enjoys varied project work and collaborating closely with engineering and production teams.

About the Role
As our Mechanical Draftsperson, you will convert engineering concepts and design direction into accurate, compliant and production-ready drawings.
Working across engineering, drafting, fabrication and manufacturing, you will prepare documentation that supports each project from quotation and customer approval through to workshop production.
Key Responsibilities
Interpret engineering concepts and develop detailed CAD models and drawings
Prepare General Arrangement drawings for quotations and customer approval
Produce workshop and fabrication drawings, layouts and cutting schedules
Develop accurate Bills of Materials for manufacturing projects
Create drawings for new builds, custom equipment, repairs and modifications
Ensure drawings comply with relevant ADR and RVS legislation
Produce technical drawings in accordance with AS**** standards
Provide technical support to engineering, fabrication and manufacturing teams
Investigate production issues and clarify design intent
Maintain engineering drawings,



design files and drafting documentation
Support research and development activities for new and updated products
Contribute to continuous improvement across design and manufacturing processes
About You
You are a practical and detail-focused Mechanical Draftsperson who understands how good design translates into efficient manufacturing.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:
At least three years' mechanical drafting experience within truck, trailer or heavy transport equipment manufacturing
Strong proficiency in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD
Experience producing technical drawings to AS**** standards
Demonstrated knowledge of ADR and RVS legislation
A sound understanding of mechanical design, fabrication and manufacturing processes
The ability to interpret engineering specifications and customer requirements
Strong technical problem-solving skills
Excellent accuracy and attention to detail
The ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and workshop teams
A qualification in mechanical engineering, engineering technology or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
