For this position, we're seeking experienced Pathology Collectors who want to continue building their careers in a rewarding role that makes a positive impact in local communities.About The RoleA Pathology Collector plays an important role in a patient's healthcare journey.
As a frontline representative of the organisation, you'll interact directly with patients to take blood samples, collect other pathology specimens and perform diagnostic tests.
You'll help create a positive patient experience while ensuring all samples are collected and handled accurately in accordance with documented procedures and quality requirements.Key responsibilities:Welcome patients, provide waiting room management and explain collection procedures with care and professionalismPerform venepuncture procedures (taking blood samples directly from patients) and collect other pathology specimensConduct diagnostic tests such as ECGs, blood pressure monitoring and Holter monitoring as requiredMaintain accurate patient records and registers of specimens collectedPrepare,



pre-sort and package specimens ready for transport to laboratoriesManage patient communications and take payments where requiredMaintain collection supplies and a safe, clean and professional environmentAbout YouDue to operational requirements, this position requires previous experience as a Pathology Collector and a completed Certificate III in Pathology Collection.
We can also consider Registered Nurses with demonstrated venepuncture experience.Previous experience as a Pathology Collector, or a Registered Nurse with demonstrated venepuncture experienceCertificate III in Pathology Collection (required)Strong communication skills and comfortable building trust and rapport with patientsThe ability to follow procedures, manage priorities and work independentlyA willingness to learn, adapt and contribute as part of a team environmentA valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employmentAbility to provide evidence of immunisation requirements, including Hepatitis BLive within a 25km radius of the collection centre/location (45km for regional areas)This role requires completion of a 6-week paid training program designed to build the skills and knowledge needed to succeed as a Pathology Collector.
