As Production Coordinator, you will be the crucial link between our production schedule and the workshop floor. Your primary purpose will be to convert scheduled jobs into complete and accurate job packs, ensuring all necessary materials, documentation, and information are available before production begins. This is a build phase role where you will not only manage current processes but also progressively improve our work order and BOM library over time. You will also track jobs through production and serve as the main point of contact for sales order status inquiries.
Key responsibilities
Compile complete job packs for every production job, including accurate work orders, verified BOMs, and correct drawings, ensuring all elements are perfect before release
Receive production orders, raise work orders in JIWA, create BOMs, and continuously improve the BOM library
Pull correct engineering drawings, confirm revisions, print, attach to job packs, and flag any discrepancies to engineering
Review BOMs, check stock in JIWA and with the warehouse, identify material shortages, collaborate with the Purchasing Officer to track deliveries, and flag potential delays to the Production Planner
Monitor active jobs through production, maintain accurate status, and identify and elevate delays or mid-job issues
Act as the primary contact for sales order status inquiries, providing accurate and current information
Collaborate with the Production Planner to fast-track urgent jobs, ensuring quick turnaround without compromising accuracy
Be cross-trained to cover the Production Planner (primary) and Purchasing Officer (secondary) to ensure minimal disruption during leave or illness
About you
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, enabling you to identify potential issues with work orders or BOMs
Experience creating and maintaining work orders and Bills of Material in a manufacturing workplace
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including understanding drawing revision control
Experience working with an ERP manufacturing module (JIWA experience is a plus, but any manufacturing ERP is well regarded)
Understanding of material grades and steel specifications relevant to valve or industrial manufacturing
Experience coordinating between production, warehouse, and purchasing functions
High attention to detail with commitment to getting it right
Capable of managing multiple jobs at various stages simultaneously
Able to liaise effectively with the floor, engineering, purchasing, warehouse, and sales teams
Comfortable working with incomplete data and able to identify issues, asking questions before they elevate
About us
John Valves is currently in the process of establishing a dedicated Production Control function. Our existing work order and Bill of Material (BOM) processes are largely manual, and we are looking for a proactive individual to help build these into reliable, accurate resources. You will be instrumental in shaping our future operational efficiency while managing day-to-day coordination.
