The City of Logan is seeking a proactive Arboricultural Team Leader to join our Parks Operations team, based out of Marsden.
What You Need:
Qualifications & Accreditation:
Certificate III Horticulture or Certificate II Arboriculture (with extensive tree experience)
Level 1 Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certification
Chainsaw Fall Trees Manually (Intermediate) accreditation
White Card (Building and Construction Industry Certification)
Licensing: Current MR Class Driver's License (Medium Rigid)
Leadership & Experience:
Proven track record leading, mentoring, and coordinating small field crews
Strong communication skills with experience in task delegation and site safety briefings (Toolbox talks)
Demonstrated ability to resolve on-site operational challenges and manage team workflow effectively
What You'll Do:
Team Leadership & Safety: Supervise daily field operations, delegate tasks, conduct safety risk assessments, and foster a positive, productive team workplace.
Field Operations: Oversee and assist with ground-based pruning, tree removals, mulching, and planting across road reserves and parks.
Equipment & Fleet Oversight: Ensure safe operation, maintenance, and pre-start checks for all team tools and fleet items up to 15t GVM.




Park Stewardship & Inspections: Lead site inspections for hazards (e.g., sharps, vandalism), ensuring public spaces are left safe, clean, and well-maintained.
Technical & Chemical Applications: Prepare, calculate, and apply pesticide, herbicide, and fungicide formulations to manage pests and diseases, ensuring team compliance with safety guidelines.

Pay Rate: $***** per hour

Operating and maintaining industry machinery, chainsaws, and 15t trucks
Performing pesticide and herbicide applications
Conducting safety inspections for graffiti, vandalism, and hazardous debris
Implementing traffic control operations
Maintaining accurate electronic records and completing online training.
