We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Supervisory Carpenter to join our Door Manufacturing Division at our Smithfield facility.

The successful applicant will apply carpentry knowledge, leadership skills and practical manufacturing experience to supervise the production of commercial door systems while overseeing a team of approximately 10 employees. The role requires extensive knowledge of door manufacturing processes, CNC machinery and production equipment to ensure products are manufactured to required specifications, quality standards and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities
• Interpret architectural drawings, construction plans, technical specifications and detailed shop drawings to determine door manufacturing requirements, dimensions, materials, hardware preparations and finishing specifications.
• Conduct site measurements of completed door frame openings using specialised digital measuring equipment to obtain precise dimensions, clearances and tolerances required for custom door manufacture.
• Analyse and interpret site measurement data, identifying variations in frame openings and determining the necessary manufacturing adjustments to ensure accurate door fitment.
• Transfer site measurements, technical drawings and project specifications into computerised manufacturing systems to facilitate accurate CNC programming and door production.
• Program, set up and operate advanced 5-axis CNC machinery to manufacture and machine doors according to measured openings,

approved drawings and individual project specifications.
• Undertake precision machining of door components, including hinge preparations, lock and latch cut-outs, seal grooves, vision panel openings, door closer preparations and other architectural hardware requirements.
• Measure, mark out, cut, shape, assemble and finish timber and timber-based door components using appropriate carpentry techniques, woodworking machinery, precision tools and CNC equipment.
• Apply practical carpentry and joinery knowledge to assess door construction methods, material suitability, hardware positioning, installation clearances and potential fitment issues during the manufacturing process.
• Assemble and fit door and frame samples within the factory or showroom environment for product testing, quality assessment, customer demonstrations and approval purposes.
• Inspect manufactured doors and machined components to verify dimensions, squareness, tolerances, alignment, hardware preparations and overall workmanship against approved project specifications.
• Identify and rectify manufacturing discrepancies, machining inaccuracies and potential fitment problems through adjustments to CNC programs, production settings and carpentry processes.
• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of door manufacturing employees, including allocating work, providing technical instructions, monitoring production progress and ensuring compliance with manufacturing specifications.
• Provide practical guidance and technical training to production employees in carpentry and joinery techniques, door assembly, CNC machinery operation, hardware preparation and quality control procedures.
• Plan and coordinate door manufacturing activities to achieve production targets, maintain workflow efficiency,

minimise material wastage and ensure timely completion of customer orders.
• Liaise with management, production personnel, technical staff and customers to clarify manufacturing requirements, resolve technical issues and ensure finished products meet project specifications.
• Maintain and monitor woodworking equipment, CNC machinery, measuring instruments and associated production tools, ensuring secure operation, accuracy and compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
The successful applicant should have:
• A relevant Certificate III in Carpentry or an equivalent recognised qualification, or demonstrable equivalent trade competency.
• Minimum 1-year practical experience in carpentry, joinery, cabinet making, door manufacturing or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or team leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated experience in the manufacture of fire-rated doors, solid core doors, metal clad doors, acoustic doors or similar products.
• Sound knowledge of carpentry methods, manufacturing processes, materials, tools and production equipment.
• Demonstrated experience operating beam saws, glue spreaders, hot presses and CNC machining equipment.
• Experience operating and supervising 5-axis CNC machinery.
• Experience using pneumatic lifting devices and material handling equipment.
• Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, production plans and manufacturing specifications.
• Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Good communication, leadership, problem-solving and time-management skills.
