Warrama Li is a leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Out of Home Care provider dedicated to supporting young people to thrive through safe, stable and nurturing residential care environments across South East Queensland.
Our mission is to create safe, stable and nurturing environments where young people can heal, grow and thrive. We are committed to delivering culturally safe, trauma-informed care that empowers young people to build positive futures while maintaining connections to family, culture and community.
This position is employed through Career Canopy Pty Ltd, with duties undertaken within Warrama Li services.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Team Leader to provide leadership, coordination and support within one of our residential care placements in Ipswich.
As a Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring high-quality care and support is delivered to young people, while leading and mentoring a team of Care Team Members.
This is a hands-on leadership position that combines direct support, staff supervision, operational oversight and stakeholder engagement. The Team Leader must also be prepared to work directly within the placement and undertake shifts where required to support the needs of the placement.
The successful applicant will be committed to achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable young people and creating a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment in which they can succeed.
Flexible Working Arrangements
We recognise that great leaders come from a range of backgrounds and circumstances. While this role carries significant leadership responsibilities, we are open to discussing full-time, part-time or casual employment arrangements, roster structures and other conditions with the right candidate.
Our focus is on finding the best person for the role and creating a working arrangement that supports both the candidate and the operational needs of the placement and young people we serve.
Flexibility is important. Team Leaders are expected to be available to work within the placement and assist with direct-care shifts where operational or staffing needs require this.
Key Responsibilities

- Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to staff.
- Ensure young people receive high-quality, trauma-informed and culturally safe care.

- Build and maintain positive working relationships with Child Safety, families, schools, therapeutic supports and other stakeholders.
- Monitor placement needs and proactively identify opportunities to improve outcomes for young people.
- Contribute to the recruitment, induction and development of staff.
- Maintain clear communication with management regarding placement operations, staffing, risks, priorities and emerging issues.
About You
You are a solid and accountable leader who can build positive relationships with both young people and staff.
You lead by example, remain calm under pressure, communicate openly and are comfortable working in a hands-on leadership role.
