About the Role
Our client, a prominent player in the Australian logistics and supply chain sector, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Truck Driver. They specialize in the efficient and protected transportation of a diverse range of goods across the nation, with a particular focus on bulk materials and sensitive cargo requiring meticulous handling. This role is crucial to their operations, ensuring timely and secure delivery of essential products to various industries.
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Truck Driver to join their dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of goods, adhering to strict company and regulatory standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Vehicle Operations and Positioning:
- Expertly manoeuvre heavy vehicles into designated loading and unloading bays with precision.
- Safely position vehicles to facilitate efficient and secure attachment of loading and unloading equipment.
Loading and Unloading Operations:
- Operate specialized lifting and tipping devices to load and unload various types of cargo, including bulk materials.
- Implement safe and effective loading and unloading procedures, ensuring the integrity of both the goods and the equipment.
Safety and Compliance:
- Strictly adhere to all workplace health and safety regulations during all loading and unloading activities.
- Conduct comprehensive pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, meticulously checking all critical components for roadworthiness and safety.
- Accurately estimate cargo weights to ensure full compliance with legal load limitations and maintain optimal weight distribution for safe transit.
- Implement secure stowage techniques to prevent any shifting, damage, or loss of goods during transportation.
Documentation and Verification:
- Thoroughly review and verify all loading and delivery documentation for accuracy.
- Conduct visual inspections of goods prior to loading to confirm their condition and ensure they meet dispatch requirements.
- Obtain necessary certification and signatures upon successful delivery, confirming receipt of goods.
Requirements:
- Valid Heavy Rigid (HR) or Higher Driver's Licence.
- Minimum 1 year experience as a Truck Driver, preferably with experience in bulk or sensitive cargo.
- Demonstrated ability to operate lifting and tipping devices safely.
- Strong understanding of vehicle safety checks and maintenance.
- Excellent knowledge of load restraint and weight distribution principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting loading documents.
- Commitment to upholding high safety standards.
- Relevant qualification to above field.
