Most brokers spend their first year building a book from scraps. This one comes with the book already built.
This is a well-established regional brokerage in Boonah. There are eight staff, 3,500 policies, and clients from the Gold Coast up to Cairns. The business is growing, the team is busy, and they need another SME broker to share the load.
You’ll take on a ready-made SME portfolio of around 500 policies, worth roughly $300k–$350k in income. Renewals are spread evenly across the year, at about 40 a month, so there’s no feast-or-famine cycle.
What you’ll actually be doing
- Running your book end to end: renewals, claims and new business
- Looking after local SME clients, mostly farms, commercial motor and pubs
- Keeping retention strong, which is the top priority here
- Writing new business, and earning 20% of the income on every new client you bring in for their first 12 months
- Focusing on commercial work only. All domestic goes to the dedicated domestic broker
The team
There are two admins, a domestic broker, three SME brokers and three senior brokers. People stay here:
one team member has been with the business for 10 years and another for 15. Everyone helps each other out.
There’s a team meeting and morning get-together every Friday, and a Christmas celebration to finish the year. It’s the kind of office where you know everyone’s name, and their clients’ names too.
What success looks like
- Month 1: confident on the systems
- Month 6: renewing policies and building solid rapport with your clients
- Month 12: fully competent and running a strong book of your own
Who we’re looking for
- Tier 1 qualified, at minimum
- Minimum 2 years of broking experience
- Comfortable handling the full client lifecycle, not just one part of it
- Someone who values long‑term client relationships and enjoys growing a book
The package
A base salary plus 20% of the new business income on new clients for their first 12 months. You’ll get a stable, tenured team, a balanced workload and a portfolio ready from day one.
