MARS Recruitment are currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a busy finance team within the construction industry. This hands-on role will focus on high-volume invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, payment runs and resolving discrepancies, while ensuring accurate and timely accounts payable administration.

The successful candidate will be organised, reliable and self-motivated, with the ability to manage manual processes, work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities. A proactive approach, strong attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of tasks while supporting the wider team will be key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

- Process high volumes of supplier invoices, including matching work orders and verifying supporting documentation.
- Obtain invoice approvals and prepare payment runs.
- Reconcile supplier statements and investigate discrepancies.
- Respond to supplier and internal stakeholder queries.
- Maintain accurate accounts payable records within the finance system.
- Assist with month-end closing activities.
- Ensure transactions are processed accurately and in line with company policies.




- Identify opportunities to improve existing processes and support automation initiatives.
- Manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines and performance targets.

About You

You will have experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role, with the ability to manage transactional workloads accurately and efficiently.

You will also bring

- Experience with invoice processing, reconciliations, and payment scheduling.
- Proficiency in accounting systems such as MYOB or Xero.
- Sound Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Clear communication skills and a practical approach to resolving queries.
- The ability to work independently and manage deadlines in a quick-paced environment.
- Flexibility to respond to changing workloads and priorities.
- A basic understanding of GST and tax requirements for supplier invoices.
