About Your New Firm

Having been established in the Newcastle/Lake Macquarie area for several years, this firm is looking to expand on what they can deliver to their broad client base. Having assessed their current and future needs, they feel the time is right to “bring on board” a mature and friendly senior accountant to join their small team.

Having identified the importance of investing in and supporting their “people”, this firm also feels it is important to provide ongoing training and development. With an experienced and approachable Senior Manager along with a patient and motivated partner, this firm achieves this with ease.

The office is centrally located in suburban Lake Macquarie. Free and easy parking is close by as an array of coffee shops and food outlets.

What You Will Be Doing

Along with the requirements of a normal business services role in a small firm, you will also need to be flexible at times due to the simple size of the organisation. This might mean meeting a few clients in person, providing assistance to others within the office or simply picking up the phone when it rings. Don't forget the SMSF part of this role.

This position may be ideal for someone looking to progress their career without the pressures of a “big city firm” or alternatively you may be seeking to work with a close-knit mature team.

Another key attraction will be for you to develop your leadership skills. The firm have a few junior accountants that would benefit from further guidance and mentoring.

What You Would Bring To The Firm

Possessing a minimum of five years experience in public practice within Australia, you will have already completed your degree. Ideally you will have commenced or completed either a CA or CPA.

In addition, you will be seeking to work with a team of customer focussed accounting professionals who actively share experiences and are always willing to “lend a hand” when required.

On of the key skills required is clear verbal communication skills. This is a must as there is a heap of interaction with clients and also your new team.

The firm is a Xero/XPM firm.

What To Do Now

Similar to most roles in public practice, in this position your remuneration is based on your ability and productivity. What this means is simple, if you are exceeding expectations you can expect to be rewarded for your efforts. As a guide, a salary in the range of $90,000 to $125,000 could be expected.
