We are looking for an enthusiastic, reliable and organised Casual Childcare Cook to join our friendly team.

Working alongside and complementing our full-time Chef, you will provide additional kitchen support and relief coverage when required.

This is a great opportunity for someone seeking flexible, family-friendly working hours without evening or weekend shifts.

We are particularly interested in candidates who are available during school holiday periods and December 2026, including the Christmas and New Year holiday period when our centre is operating.

About the Role

As our Casual Centre Cook, you will help ensure children continue to enjoy fresh, healthy and nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.

Your responsibilities will include

- Preparing and serving nutritious morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea for children aged 0 to 5 years.
- Following established menus and contributing ideas for healthy, seasonal meals.
- Catering for individual dietary requirements, allergies, food intolerances and cultural preferences.
- Supporting food ordering, stock management and kitchen organisation.
- Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.
- Maintaining accurate kitchen records, including food temperatures, cleaning schedules and allergy management documentation.
- Working collaboratively with our Chef and educators to encourage positive food experiences and healthy eating habits.




- Providing kitchen coverage during staff leave and other periods when additional support is required.

About You

We would love to hear from candidates who:
- Have experience preparing meals in a childcare centre, school, aged care facility or commercial kitchen.
- Have a sound understanding of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Are confident catering for children with allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Can work independently and manage their time effectively.
- Are organised, reliable and flexible with their availability.
- Have good communication skills and enjoy being part of a supportive team.

Essential Requirements

- Sound knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices.
- Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one before commencing employment.
- Full working rights in Australia.

Desirable

- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
- Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
- Previous experience working in an early childhood education and care setting.
- Understanding of the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standards.
