Eskleigh Foundation is a Tasmanian not-for-profit guided by our values of Care Together, Grow Together and Thrive Together. We're growing our casual team in Launceston and surrounding suburbs to support children and young people living in our out of home care placements, from young children through to teenagers.
The young people we support are curious, capable and deserve a safe, stable home. Many have experienced trauma or disrupted family life, and some live with disability or complex needs. At times they may express distress through challenging behaviours, including aggression. You'll have training, supervision, debriefing and EAP support behind you.
What you'll do
- Support young people with daily routines, meals, personal care and getting to school, appointments and activities
- Build secure, respectful relationships using a trauma-informed approach
- Follow each young person's care, behaviour support and cultural plans
- Administer medication in line with training
- Keep accurate case notes and handovers
This role will suit you if you:
- connect well with children and young people, and stay calm under pressure
- keep clear, professional boundaries while being warm and genuine
- are patient and consistent, even when progress is slow
- respect each young person's culture, identity and story, without judgement
- are open to learning trauma-informed practice
- communicate clearly and are comfortable with basic computer use
- are reliable and enjoy working as part of a team
