Bush’s Proteins is part of A J Bush & Sons, a family-owned Australian business with more than 115 years of history in the meat industry. Our Beaudesert operation converts animal by-products into valuable protein meals, fats and oils used in stockfeed, pet food, aquafeed and fertiliser.

We are seeking an experienced Electrical & Controls Engineer to provide technical engineering support across the site’s electrical, automation and process-control systems. The role will focus on safe design, system reliability, fault elimination, controls improvement and the successful delivery of electrical and automation projects.

About the role

- Develop and implement electrical, instrumentation and control-system improvements that support safe and reliable plant operation

- Provide advanced fault-finding and root-cause analysis across PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, variable-speed drives, instrumentation and industrial networks

- Plan and deliver automation, electrical and controls projects from scope development through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover

- Maintain engineering standards, technical drawings, software backups, change records and asset documentation

- Review and manage control-system changes to protect system integrity, cybersecurity and operational continuity

- Support electrical reliability strategies, preventive maintenance development and lifecycle planning for critical assets

- Provide technical guidance to electricians, process-control personnel, contractors and operational teams

- Ensure engineering work complies with applicable legislation,



Australian Standards, site procedures and safety requirements

- Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering and external suppliers to improve plant performance

What you’ll bring

- A degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical Engineering, Control Systems or a related engineering discipline

- Demonstrated industrial experience in electrical engineering, automation or process control within manufacturing, processing, utilities or a similar environment

- Solid working knowledge of PLCs, SCADA, HMIs, instrumentation, variable-speed drives and industrial communication networks

- Experience delivering electrical and controls projects, including commissioning and technical documentation

- Sound understanding of electrical safety, functional risk controls and engineering change management

- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder-management skills

- A practical, hands-on approach and the ability to work effectively in an operating plant environment

Desirable

- Experience with reliability engineering, hazardous-area equipment, machine safety or functional safety

- RPEQ registration, or eligibility to obtain registration, where required for the professional engineering services performed

- Experience in food, rendering, animal by-product processing or other continuous-process manufacturing
