Functions Manager 6-month maternity leave contract, Stomping Ground Morris Moor

THE GIGWe’re looking for an experienced Functions Manager to join our team at Morris Moor on a 6-month maternity leave contract.

As Functions Manager, you’ll be the first point of contact for all bookings and functions, owning the guest journey from the first enquiry and site visit right through to a well-run event and a follow-up that keeps guests coming back. You’ll run the bookings program for our Beer Hall and function spaces, prepare run sheets for our FOH and kitchen teams, and run our major functions and events.

Weddings are a big part of what we do, so you’ll bring the experience and confidence to plan and run a wedding from the first enquiry to the last dance. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate party, a product launch or one of our own events, you’ll be someone who loves the detail, stays calm under pressure and takes pride in giving every guest an event to remember.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

- At least 2 years’ experience leading a team in restaurants or events
- Proven experience and confidence running weddings
- Proven experience in function sales, enquiries and event planning
- Strong organisation and a high attention to detail,



with consistency in execution
- Excellent written and verbal communication, a confident phone manner and a warm, professional approach to clients
- Current Victorian RSA certification
- A love of great beer and genuine hospitality

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Be the first point of contact for all bookings and functions, handling a high volume of enquiries by phone and email
- Manage function enquiries and bookings, making sure every booking is allocated to the right area
- Host site visits, venue walk-throughs and tastings to convert enquiries into bookings
- Plan and run weddings from start to finish, working closely with couples and suppliers on every detail
- Provide clear weekly and daily run sheets to the FOH and kitchen teams
- Run major functions and events, including weddings, VIP and high-spend bookings
- Work with the Head Chef and venue management so each function has the food, staff and resources it needs
- Support the venue’s events calendar and help plan our consumer and trade events
- Keep accurate sales data and follow up with every guest after their event
- Help develop recent function packages and campaigns with our marketing team
