HR Drivers & Field Crew – Mining Exploration | Training Provided
There are two different casual roles available - Heavy Rigid Drivers (HR licence required) and Field Crew (no HR licence required)
Heavy Rigid Drivers
Have your HR licence? Put it to work in mining exploration.
Fleet Space Technologies is seeking HR-licensed drivers to operate specialised seismic vehicles, along with field crew, for an upcoming exploration project.
We’re offering an initial 2–3 weeks of work, with potential for further projects. Full training and a Rio Tinto induction are provided, making this a great opportunity to gain mine site experience and get started in the exploration industry.
No previous seismic experience is required.
HR drivers – what will you be operating?
Our seismic vehicles, known as “vibes”, are purpose-built heavy vehicles that send controlled vibrations into the ground. Recording equipment measures the response to help geologists map what’s below the surface.
You’ll be trained to drive and operate these vehicles at designated survey points, working closely with an experienced crew. If you’ve driven trucks or operated machinery in transport, civil construction, farming or mining, your skills could be a great fit.
A current Heavy Rigid (HR) licence is essential for these driver positions.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Driving and operating seismic vehicles, depending on your role.
- Completing pre-start checks and routine equipment care.
- Deploying and retrieving seismic recording equipment.
- Using GPS and survey maps to work across varied terrain.
- Supporting safe, efficient field operations.
This is outdoor, surface-based work with no underground activities. Shifts are generally 11 hours, so you’ll need to be comfortable with long days and practical work in a field environment.
Field crew positions
We’re also looking for reliable, hands-on people to help deploy and retrieve equipment and support the survey.
An HR licence is not essential for field crew positions, and training is provided.
What we’re looking for
- Availability for the initial 2–3 week project.
- A strong focus on safety and a willingness to learn.
- Reliability, teamwork and transparent communication.
- Comfort working outdoors and completing physical tasks.
- Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test and hold or obtain a valid police clearance.
- Australian or New Zealand citizenship/residency.
What we offer
- Competitive day rates.
- Travel, meals and accommodation covered while on the project.
- Full role training and Rio Tinto induction.
- Practical mine site experience with an experienced, supportive crew.
- Potential for further project work across Australia and overseas.
Apply now Please include your CV, availability and licence class, and let us know whether you’re interested in a driver position or field crew work.
