ICT and Digital Lawyer – Baseline Clearance – $1040 to $1400 daily rate including super – initial secondment to 30 April 2027 – Canberra location (in office) – part-time The Role

We currently have a secondment opportunity within a high profile Commonwealth Department that is seeking a Senior Lawyer with experience in experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) or digital law.

The Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to work as a secondee within the Commonwealth clients’ in-house legal team and will be required to provide advice in in relation to the adoption of AI use cases within the department.

The secondee will be required to provide advice and support in areas such as:

- AI use cases that are expected to cover the service delivery;




- scientific and corporate support domains;
- working independently within a small team to prepare legal advice
- conducting research and meet with internal client areas; and
- providing advice on administrative law matters, including automated decision-making (ADM) issues.

The Requirements A current practising certificate (or ability to obtain one) and a current (minimum) Baseline security clearance experience is essential. Previous experience in providing legal advice on AI use cases and a demonstrated understanding of the Australian Government’s key AI policies will be highly regarded.
