Lead Exceptional Projects. Build High-Performing Teams. Drive Operational Excellence.
We are not looking for an average Project Manager. We are looking for an exceptional leader who takes ownership, drives performance and knows how to turn great teams into outstanding ones.
Ocean Landscapes is a growing, premium landscape design and construction company specialising in high-end residential projects across the Central Coast, Hunter Valley and Sydney's North Shore.
We have built our reputation on exceptional craftsmanship, attention to detail, genuine client relationships and a concierge-style approach to project delivery.
As we enter our next phase of growth, we are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Senior Project Manager to take ownership of construction delivery, operational efficiency and team performance.
This is an opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in a business with ambitious growth plans, strong values and a commitment to doing things exceptionally well.
The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Directors, you will oversee multiple residential landscape construction projects and lead our site supervisors, tradespeople, apprentices and subcontractors.
Your responsibility goes beyond delivering beautiful projects.
You will be accountable for ensuring every project is delivered safely, efficiently, profitably and to the highest standards of workmanship and client experience.
We want someone who understands that successful project management is not just about getting the job finished. It is about understanding the numbers, anticipating problems, optimising resources and continually improving how the business operates.
Your Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Operational Leadership
- Oversee multiple luxury residential landscaping projects from commencement through to completion and handover.
- Develop and manage construction programs, project milestones and resource allocations.
- Coordinate site supervisors, construction teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within approved budgets and to exceptional quality standards.
- Identify potential delays, risks and operational bottlenecks before they affect project performance.
- Maintain strong communication between site teams, management and clients.
Productivity, Efficiency & Profitability
This is a critical component of the role.
- Monitor actual labour hours against estimated hours and project budgets.
- Track daily and weekly productivity across multiple construction teams.
- Measure labour utilisation, team output, project progress and operational efficiency.
- Identify inefficiencies, wasted resources,
unnecessary downtime and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor project costs, material usage, subcontractor expenditure and financial performance.
- Analyse project profitability and protect gross margins.
- Implement practical systems, processes and measurable KPIs to improve performance.
- Provide Directors with accurate weekly reporting on project progress, labour efficiency, budget performance and forecast completion dates.
- Ensure accurate timesheets, site reporting, documentation and project management system updates.
People Leadership & Accountability
- Lead, mentor and develop site supervisors and construction teams.
- Set clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable.
- Build a positive, respectful and high-performance workplace culture.
- Identify training needs, skill gaps and opportunities for career development.
- Improve workforce planning to ensure teams are appropriately resourced.
- Promote ownership, initiative, teamwork and proactive problem-solving.
Quality, Safety & Client Experience
- Maintain the exceptional workmanship standards expected of a luxury landscaping company.
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, construction specifications and relevant regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections and quality assurance checks.
- Work collaboratively with the Directors to deliver a seamless, qualified client experience.
- Manage challenges with professionalism, sound judgement and a solutions-focused approach.
Who We Are Looking For
You are an experienced construction leader who combines strong operational capability, commercial intelligence and exceptional people management skills.
You don't need to be micromanaged. You take ownership, create structure and deliver measurable results.
You will ideally bring:
- Proven experience in senior project management or operations leadership within landscape construction, residential construction or a closely related industry.
- Demonstrated success managing multiple construction projects and teams simultaneously.
- Strong understanding of labour costing, productivity measurement, construction budgets and project profitability.
- Experience implementing or improving operational systems, reporting and performance KPIs.
- Excellent planning, scheduling and resource management skills.
- Confidence leading supervisors, tradespeople and subcontractors.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution and decision-making abilities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and a high level of personal accountability.
- Confidence using project management software, spreadsheets and digital reporting tools.
- A commitment to exceptional quality, professionalism and continuous improvement.
- A current driver's licence and relevant construction qualifications or experience.
Experience with landscape construction, premium residential projects and platforms such as Wunderbuild will be highly regarded.
What Sets You Apart
We are particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate how they have:
- Improved labour productivity or reduced project overruns.
- Successfully managed several construction crews while maintaining quality and profitability.
- Introduced reporting systems that gave business owners better visibility over performance.
- Developed underperforming teams into accountable, productive teams.
- Improved project scheduling, resource allocation or construction margins.
- Created operational structure within a growing construction business.
We value measurable achievements over impressive job titles.
