NT Recycling Solutions (NTRS) is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter & Maintenance Planner – Fixed Plant to take ownership of the maintenance, reliability and servicing of our growing portfolio of processing equipment.
You’ll spend time maintaining, diagnosing and repairing plant, while also coordinating preventative maintenance, contractors, servicing schedules and maintenance records.
Working closely with our operational teams, you’ll play an important role in moving our maintenance approach from reactive to proactive, helping improve plant reliability, reduce downtime and support the continued growth of our processing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain and repair fixed plant and processing equipment across NTRS operations, including the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), oily water treatment plant and C&D; processing equipment.
- Undertake hands-on mechanical maintenance, fault finding, breakdown repairs and scheduled servicing.
- Plan, coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance activities to improve plant reliability and minimise downtime.
- Manage the preventative maintenance system, ensuring servicing, inspections, repairs and upcoming maintenance requirements are accurately scheduled and recorded.
- Coordinate specialist contractors and service providers, including arranging site access, scheduling works and monitoring completion.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, service histories and equipment documentation for major plant and equipment.
- Identify recurring equipment faults and recommend repairs, upgrades and preventative actions.
- Work closely with operational teams to schedule maintenance around production and processing requirements.
- Assist with spare parts, servicing requirements and forward maintenance planning.
- Help develop and implement a more structured and proactive maintenance program as NTRS continues to expand its processing capability.
About you We’re looking for someone who enjoys being hands-on but also has the organisation and initiative to take ownership of the maintenance planning function.
Ideally, you will have:
- A relevant mechanical trade qualification such as Mechanical Fitter, Fitter & Turner, Diesel Mechanic or similar.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing mechanical plant and equipment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience planning and coordinating preventative and scheduled maintenance.
- Experience using CMMS or preventative maintenance software for scheduling, tracking and record keeping.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing maintenance priorities.
- The ability to coordinate contractors and external service providers.
- A practical approach to safety, plant reliability and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work collaboratively with operational teams in a busy industrial environment.
- Experience with fixed plant, recycling, waste processing, crushing and screening equipment, conveyors, pumps or industrial processing equipment will be highly regarded.
Why join NTRS? This isn't a role where you'll simply wait for the next breakdown.
You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of fixed-plant maintenance, improve systems and influence how maintenance is planned and delivered across a growing recycling and resource recovery operation.
We offer
- A varied position combining hands-on mechanical work with maintenance planning.
- The opportunity to develop and improve NTRS's preventative maintenance program.
- A role with genuine autonomy and the ability to influence plant reliability and operational performance.
- The prospect to be part of a growing business focused on recycling, resource recovery and processing capability.
Apply now If you're a mechanically minded tradesperson who enjoys solving problems, keeping plant running and building a better approach to preventative maintenance, we'd like to hear from you.
