We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to lead our Melbourne textile manufacturing operations.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager, you will oversee daily production operations, resource planning, staff development, quality assurance and continuous improvement. This is a practical leadership role requiring strong organisational skills, sound decision-making and the ability to mentor and develop an existing production team.

Key Responsibilities

- Production & Planning: Manage daily operations, production schedules, Excel-based resource planning, workload priorities and stock availability.

- Team Leadership: Support and mentor the Production Supervisor, manage staff wellbeing, resolve workplace issues and oversee recruitment, training and performance.

- Quality Assurance: Maintain product quality standards, oversee incoming material inspections, carpet validation and final approval of non-conforming products.

- Operational Efficiency: Monitor manufacturing costs, maintain production costing spreadsheets and drive productivity, process and cost improvements.

- Safety & Compliance: Ensure OH&S; compliance, equipment maintenance, workplace safety and accurate documentation.

- Communication:



Work closely with Sydney management, engineering, quality and supply chain teams to resolve issues and maintain efficient operations.

- Process Management: Maintain and improve manufacturing procedures, work instructions and quality systems.

About You

We are looking for someone with:

- Proven experience managing production or manufacturing operations.

- Strong leadership, mentoring and people management skills.

- Experience in production scheduling, resource planning and cost control.

- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

- Knowledge of quality systems, workplace safety and manufacturing processes.

- A proactive, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills.

- The confidence to manage operations independently while maintaining a positive team environment.

Experience in automotive manufacturing, textile production or sewing operations will be highly regarded.
