About the Business

Our client is a large, well-established organisation with extensive operations across Australia and a strong presence in the agricultural and food production sectors.

With significant investment underway across its regional operations, the business is undertaking a major construction and redevelopment program at a number of it’s facilities.

We're looking for an experienced Safety Manager with a strong construction background to take ownership of safety across these projects.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, site-based position where you'll work closely with the Construction Manager, site supervisors and subcontractors to ensure construction activities are planned and delivered safely.

Importantly, the business has elected to act as the Principal Contractor, meaning you'll play a key role in overseeing contractor safety, identifying and managing construction risks, and ensuring compliance across the project.

The work includes demolition of existing infrastructure and construction of new agricultural facilities, offering plenty of variety and an opportunity to make a tangible impact.

Your responsibilities will include

- Taking ownership of day-to-day construction safety activities across the site.
- Monitoring subcontractor compliance with WHS legislation, site requirements and safe work procedures.
- Reviewing SWMS, permits to work, risk assessments and contractor documentation.
- Conducting site inspections, audits and hazard assessments, ensuring corrective actions are completed.
- Leading and supporting incident investigations and implementing practical preventative measures.
- Working closely with construction supervisors and contractors to manage high-risk activities.
- Facilitating toolbox talks,

pre-start meetings and safety consultations.
- Developing and maintaining construction-specific safety plans and supporting the broader WHS management system.
- Providing practical safety leadership to site management and helping build a positive, accountable safety culture.

About You We're looking for someone who understands construction environments, is comfortable working independently and knows how to build credibility with contractors and operational teams.

You'll ideally bring

- Demonstrated construction safety experience, ideally across new-build, demolition, civil or industrial construction projects.
- A Certificate IV in WHS or a relevant qualification.
- Strong knowledge of construction safety legislation, contractor management, SWMS and permit-to-work systems.
- Experience identifying and managing high-risk construction activities.
- The confidence to challenge unsafe practices while maintaining productive working relationships.
- Robust communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
- The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and influence people at all levels.

We're particularly interested in people who enjoy being out on site rather than sitting behind a desk. You'll need to be approachable, resilient and comfortable working with experienced construction professionals. What's on Offer?

- Salary of up to 150,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.
- A long-term opportunity within a large, growing organisation.
- The chance to take ownership of safety across a significant construction program.
- An established broader safety function, with autonomy to manage your own responsibilities.
- A regional location offering an excellent lifestyle, with the main site conveniently situated near Albury-Wodonga and Yarrawonga.
