About the role

Senior Java Developers are sought for multiple opportunities with one of the largest Federal Government Departments. Development Experts lead software development projects and provide technical leadership to their teams. They manage software planning, development, and construction activities, and evaluate and resolve complex issues within the development and production environments.

Key responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.

- Build responsive, dynamic, and accessible front-end interfaces using modern frameworks

- Write clean, maintainable and testable code following best practice

- Provide specialist technical advice on software development and maintenance activities, driving continuous improvement in code quality standards and long-term maintenance of a product's code base.

- Lead analysis, design, development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities, solving complex technical problems and delivering high quality solutions.

- Manage application releases and ensure go-live production support and maintenance of the team's developments.

- Perform high-level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutions.

- Undertake technical design and development of highly complex custom solutions and/or standard conversion and migration solutions.

- Proactively share knowledge and expertise,



providing assistance and mentorship to less experienced colleagues through coaching, mentoring and succession planning.

- Lead the design, development and delivery of Java based solutions within the Services Australia technical environments and systems.

About you

- Extensive experience in Java development

- Minimum 5 years experience in Java, JEE, JSP, JSF, JavaScript, Angular, CSS, JQuery, Spring framework, JPA & JDBC, SQL, SOAP, DB2, RESTful Services, CI/CD, Bamboo, ALM, SVN, GitLab

- Solid experience in front end technologies (JSP, JQuery and JavaScript), Spring, IBM DB2, JPA, Webservice standards, RESTFul Services and JMS.

- Proven record of delivering IT solutions using software development life cycle, systems development and testing methodologies in an agile environment.

- Ability to develop technical documentation and broad experience with technical integration frameworks

- Australian Citizen with an existing baseline clearance
