Our client is an established Australian engineering and water technology company specialising in the design and delivery of water, wastewater and environmental infrastructure projects.

Working across municipal, industrial and environmental sectors, they deliver engineered treatment solutions involving mechanical equipment, piping systems and associated infrastructure.

Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Project Engineer for a 12-month contract , working on a FIFO basis from Brisbane to a regional Queensland location, supporting the delivery of a $10m AUD Sewage Treatment Plant project

This is a site-focused position responsible for coordinating contractors, overseeing mechanical and piping installation works, and ensuring construction activities are delivered in accordance with approved engineering designs and specifications.

Working closely with the design and project delivery teams, you will review designs for constructability, resolve technical issues on site and support the successful installation, commissioning and handover of mechanical and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate and manage contractors delivering mechanical and piping installation works
- Review engineering drawings, equipment layouts and piping arrangements for constructability
- Oversee installation of pumps, mechanical equipment, valves, pipework and associated infrastructure
- Monitor construction progress, quality and compliance with engineering specifications
- Identify and resolve site engineering issues, design clashes and installation constraints
- Coordinate with designers, suppliers and contractors to resolve technical queries and RFIs
- Review vendor documentation,



fabrication drawings and proposed design modifications
- Support quality inspections, ITPs, commissioning, punch lists and project handover
- Ensure mechanical works are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements

Requirements

- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Approximately 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience
- Strong site-based project engineering experience across water, wastewater, infrastructure or process industries
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and coordinating mechanical installation works
- Practical knowledge of pumps, mechanical equipment, HDPE, DICL, flanged pipework, valves and fittings
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work autonomously in a construction workplace
- Experience across multidisciplinary engineering projects would be highly regarded
