Senior Structural / Façade Engineer

Engineering Review, Compliance & Design Optimisation

Arcadia is seeking a technically solid and commercially aware Senior Structural / Façade Engineer to join our in-house engineering team.

This role is responsible for undertaking engineering reviews, structural calculations and compliance validation in accordance with the National Construction Code (NCC) and applicable Australian Standards.

However, this is not simply an engineering assessment role.

This position places you at the centre of real project decisions — working directly with Project Managers, Sales and Pre-Construction to shape façade outcomes, drive value engineering and protect margin across complex national projects.

You will influence design, cost and delivery.

The Role

You will be responsible for validating, calculating and optimising façade and structural systems across Arcadia’s national portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include

Engineering Review & Structural Calculations

- Conduct independent structural calculations for façade, louvre, sunshade and architectural metalwork systems.
- Apply and interpret AS1170 (Wind Actions) and relevant structural standards
- Review designs for strength, serviceability, movement and performance compliance
- Validate structural assumptions used in pricing and shop drawing development
- Identify and mitigate engineering risks prior to fabrication

NCC & Australian Standards Compliance

- Ensure all designs comply with NCC requirements and applicable Australian Standards
- Review balustrade,



barrier and façade load requirements
- Liaise with consulting engineers and certifiers as needed

Design Optimisation & Value Engineering

- Review and challenge designs to ensure efficient material usage
- Rationalise member sizes and connection details where appropriate
- Work with PMs and Pre-Construction to deliver cost-effective structural solutions

Commercial & Project Influence

- Provide engineering input at tender stage
- Identify opportunities to protect or improve project margin
- Assist in developing alternative design proposals where commercially advantageous

About You

- Degree qualified Civil or Structural Engineer
- 7+ years’ experience in façade or structural engineering
- Strong working knowledge of AS1170 and relevant Australian Standards
- Confident performing structural calculations independently
- Commercially aware and comfortable working in D&C; environments
- Able to influence project outcomes, not just review documentation

You are technically rigorous but commercially practical. You understand that good engineering must also be buildable, efficient and financially sound.
