Write the software that runs a steel factory, from the first quote to the last bundle on the truck.

Reosteel is building its own ERP and internal systems, and we’re hiring a full-stack Software Developers to build them with us. You’ll be one of the first engineers in our new in-house team, and working side by side with the sales, scheduling, production and despatch teams who will use what you build.

It’s a greenfield build, but not a blank page: you’ll connect to some existing systems and replace them in stages. We’re open on level. Whether you’re a strong mid-level developers or a senior who wants to build from the ground up, we’ll set the level and pay around your experience.

About Reosteel

Reosteel is one of Australia’s fastest-growing reinforcing steel suppliers, delivering 100% Australian-made rebar, mesh and accessories to major construction projects nationwide. We run advanced manufacturing facilities in Sydney and Canberra and are expanding into more capital cities.

We’re part of a privately owned Australian group whose businesses span steel, building supplies, construction, logistics, property, education and healthcare.

What you’ll build

Our ERP (quoting and pricing, orders, purchasing, stock, despatch, invoicing and cash collection), with AI where it genuinely helps. Along the way, you’ll solve problems like these:

- Turning bar bending schedules that arrive as PDFs, spreadsheets and detailing exports into clean, validated production data, with AI doing the first pass and a person approving it
- Sequencing cut-and-bend work across machines to meet delivery windows while keeping offcut waste down

- Tracking every bundle from mill certificate to delivery docket, with labels and scans that work for someone wearing gloves on a noisy floor
- Connecting machines, label printers, scanners and our finance system through clean, reusable integrations
- Putting AI into workflows where mistakes cost money, with clear limits, human approval for consequential steps, audit trails and measured accuracy
- Making it fast and simple enough that people choose it over the spreadsheet

How we work

- Process first. You’ll spend real time on the floor and understand how the work flows before you write the code.
- Small releases, measured. Every release is measured against a baseline such as quote turnaround, admin hours, stock accuracy or production efficiency.
- AI tools, used well. We use AI coding tools and expect you to use them well. You stay responsible for every line that ships, backed by tests, code review and monitoring.
- You own what you ship. Support it after launch, fix what breaks and help our people learn to use it.

What you’ll bring

- Commercial experience building and shipping software that people rely on every day
- Strong skills in at least one up-to-date language and framework (for example TypeScript, Python or C#), plus SQL and relational data modelling

- Experience designing APIs and integrating with other systems
- Experience building with LLM APIs in production, or side projects that show you’re well on the way
- Good habits: automated testing, version control, code review, CI/CD and production monitoring
- The ability to sit with operators, understand a messy real-world process and turn it into clear software

Nice to have

- ERP, MES, inventory, warehouse or order management systems
- Manufacturing, logistics or construction supply
- Barcode and label printing, machine integration, or rebar detailing data such as Tekla or BVBS exports

If you match most of this and you’ve shipped software people rely on, apply. We’d rather meet you than have you rule yourself out.

What’s on offer

- Real ownership: help shape the architecture, data model and engineering standards from the start
- Fast feedback: your users are a short walk away, so you’ll see what works within days, not quarters
- Purpose: your work helps grow Australian manufacturing
- A brand with reach, including our Platinum Partnership with the Sydney Roosters
- Where you’ll work: on site at Casula or Barangaroo head office, five days a week (this is not a remote role).

How to apply Apply on SEEK with your CV. Skip the formal cover letter: in the cover letter field, tell us in a few lines about one piece of software you built that people relied on, one trade-off you made and how you knew it worked. A GitHub or portfolio link is welcome but not required. Please leave out anything confidential.

We know good developers are often still employed, so all applications are treated with discretion.
