Torode Xocolatl is a family-owned, artisan chocolate business with boutique stores in Kew East and Canterbury. We create premium chocolates and welcoming spaces where customers can enjoy our speciality drinks, discover something delicious or choose a thoughtful gift.
We’re looking for a capable, personable Store Manager to take responsibility for the daily running of one of our stores, support our team and help every customer feel welcome.

Experience matters to us
We welcome applicants of all ages, including people aged 50 and over, those returning to the workforce and experienced retail or hospitality professionals looking for a change.
You might already be a store or café manager, or you may be an experienced assistant manager, supervisor or senior barista ready to take the next step. We value practical leadership, sound judgement and the ability to work well with people.

What you’ll do

- Lead daily store operations and provide warm, attentive customer service.
- Guide the team during shifts, communicate priorities and support staff training.
- Assist with rostering and ensure opening and closing tasks are completed.
- Manage stock ordering, replenishment and stock control.
- Oversee cash handling, daily banking and point-of-sale procedures.
- Keep product displays attractive and help customers choose products and gifts.
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety and presentation standards.
- Work with management and the production team to communicate stock needs, customer feedback and opportunities to improve sales.

This is an active, customer-facing role, working alongside the team on the shop floor.

What you’ll bring

- Experience in retail, cafés, hospitality or a comparable customer-service environment.
- Experience leading shifts, supporting colleagues or supervising a team.
- Clear communication, reliability and a practical approach to solving problems.
- Confidence using point-of-sale systems and handling everyday store administration.




- An understanding of food safety and workplace cleanliness.
- An interest in quality products and creating a positive customer experience.

Barista experience is highly regarded. Previous chocolate industry experience is not essential.

Hours and employment options
Our stores trade during the day:

- Kew East: Monday–Friday, 8.30 am–5 pm; Saturday, 9 am–5 pm; Sunday, 9.30 am–2 pm.
- Canterbury: Monday–Wednesday, 8 am–5 pm; Thursday–Friday, 8 am–5.30 pm; Saturday, 9 am–5.30 pm; Sunday, 10 am–5.30 pm.

Rostered work generally includes approximately 30 minutes beyond trading hours for opening and closing tasks. Individual shifts will depend on the store and agreed roster; these trading hours do not mean you would work every day or every opening-to-closing shift.
The permanent full-time role is based on 38 hours per week, generally including one Saturday or Sunday. If you prefer casual employment, please tell us your availability so we can discuss a suitable arrangement.
