Take your construction operations experience somewhere different. Trailworx Australia is a specialist design, construction and maintenance business delivering mountain bike networks, recreational cycling and adventure walking trails, pump tracks and jump parks. From family-friendly networks to technically demanding tracks and remote adventure trails, its projects create lasting outdoor recreation infrastructure for communities. With a growing portfolio across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, the business offers an opportunity to apply established construction expertise in a distinctive project environment.

Based at the North Lakes office in Brisbane, the Operations Manager will lead the Project Management and operational teams across all three states. This is a hands-on senior leadership role for an accomplished senior project manager, civil, landscape construction or infrastructure professional who enjoys bringing people, resources and commercial disciplines together. You will maintain visibility across the complete works program, support teams working in different locations and help ensure the business has the capacity and coordination to deliver its commitments.

Reporting to the General Manager, you will take responsibility for safe, productive and commercially successful operational delivery, from pre-construction planning and mobilisation through to completion and close-out. A central accountability is the financial performance of each project. Working closely with Project Managers and the Finance Manager, you will turn reliable job-cost information into timely decisions, identify emerging risks and implement practical actions that protect project outcomes.

Your working week will combine forward planning with practical delivery oversight. You will lead weekly labour and subcontractor scheduling, coordinate plant, equipment and materials, and balance competing demands across concurrent projects. The works program ranges from local sites to remote FIFO operations,

requiring careful mobilisation, logistics and workforce planning. Regular project visits will provide visibility of progress, safety, quality and client requirements. You will also monitor productivity, costs, claims, variations and cost-to-complete forecasts, stepping in where delivery or financial performance moves off plan.

You will connect operational delivery with business development, design, estimating, Finance and support functions. Before work begins, you will contribute to construction methodologies, resourcing, logistics, risk reviews and project costing so that commitments are realistic and projects transition effectively into delivery. Throughout the project lifecycle, you will maintain clear purchasing, purchase order, job-coding and reporting disciplines. Your relationships with clients, contractors and suppliers will support effective problem-solving, while lessons from live and completed projects will help improve future estimates, systems and delivery practices.

The environment calls for a practical leader who can remain organised when priorities change and resolve issues without losing sight of safety, quality or customer outcomes. You will provide clear direction and support to geographically dispersed teams, develop capability and establish accountability for project delivery and financial performance. Consistent safety systems, site inspections, risk controls and contractor compliance will be integral to your approach. There is also genuine scope to improve scheduling, resource utilisation, data quality and operational processes across the business.

You will bring extensive operations or senior project management experience in civil construction, landscape construction, infrastructure, open space construction or a comparable project-based environment. Experience leading Project Managers and field teams is important, together with strong planning, programming, commercial and financial capability. You will understand project budgets, job costing, forecasting, Gross Profit, Gross Margin, claims and variations, and know how to act on adverse trends. Sound construction safety knowledge, confident stakeholder communication and a willingness to travel regularly across Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria are essential.

Trail construction experience is not essential. Trailworx can provide the specialist design and industry knowledge; you bring the construction leadership, commercial discipline and commitment to delivery. In return, this role offers competitive remuneration aligned with its seniority and responsibility, close engagement with an experienced leadership team and genuine influence over operational performance. For a construction leader seeking a different project environment, it is an opportunity to deliver distinctive infrastructure that people use, enjoy and value.
