Accommodation/ Hostel Manager

Lead a small team, manage operations and create memorable guest experiences, and help shape a friendly home away from home for students, long-stay guests and travellers.

The Role at a Glance

• Tuesday–Saturday, 9:30am–4pm on-site, with after-hours phone support required.

• Set the standard by pitching in with your team, keeping the property immaculate and giving guests a stay they’ll remember.

• Manage & training of a friendly, close-knit team of cleaners, a gardener, a weekend supervisor and a night security contractor.

Who We're Looking For

Someone with a can-do attitude who thrives under pressure, genuinely loves looking after people, and has the eye for detail to keep the place looking its best. You'll bring solid experience from the accommodation industry, sharp organisational skills, leadership skills and a hands-on approach — this is a role where you roll your sleeves up as much as you manage!

What You'll Do

Guests





• Be the face of Life in Byron — warm, responsive, and great in a tricky situation.

• Handle enquiries, complaints and requests with professionalism and care.

Operations & Cleaning

• Run day-to-day operations: reservations, check-ins, check-outs, maintenance, ordering, admin, people management and everything else that comes up in a day!

• Work alongside your team to keep rooms, grounds and facilities spotless - this is hands-on, not just oversight.

• Lead and coordinate our cleaners, gardener and security contractors.

• Build solid relationships with partners and suppliers.

Business & Growth

• Manage expenses and pricing to keep occupancy and revenue strong.

• Drive marketing and social media to bring new guests through the door.

• Build ties with local businesses and tourism partners.

What You'll Bring

• Excellent spoken and written English (bonus points for more languages)

• Accommodation or travel industry experience, a MUST!

• Experience using Cloudbeds or a similar property management system!!

• Great computer and admin skills - Google Workspace

• A genuine willingness to do hands-on cleaning and physical work daily

• Availability by phone outside your on-site hours

• Ready to start immediately

• Applicants must have unrestricted work rights in Australia. (A minimum of 11 months on any WHV and plans to stay in Byron)
