Property and Rates Officer

Full Time | Band 6 | Colac Otway Shire Council

Are you an experienced local government skilled with a strong understanding of property and rates administration? Join Colac Otway Shire Council, and play a key role in delivering accurate, efficient and customer-focused revenue services to our growing community.

As our next Property and Rates Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining Council's property and rates database, processing property ownership changes, managing supplementary valuations, supporting the rates notice process, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and statutory requirements. You will also provide exceptional customer service and work collaboratively across the organisation to support effective revenue management.

About the Role

Reporting to the Coordinator Revenue Services, you will:

- Maintain and administer Council's property and rates database.
- Process property transfers, ownership changes and address updates.
- Coordinate supplementary valuations and valuation objections.
- Assist with the preparation and issuance of rates notices and associated charges.
- Support debt recovery processes and revenue reconciliations.
- Ensure compliance with local government rating legislation and statutory obligations.
- Provide professional advice and responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

- Experience in rates and property administration, preferably within Local Government.
- Knowledge of rating principles, revenue processes and relevant legislation.




- Experience using rates and property systems such as Civica Authority and VM Online (highly regarded).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and investigative skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- A high level of accuracy, organisation and attention to detail.
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.

Salary information: $92,526.20 to $99,797.88 per annum plus superannuation
