Looking to start a career in metal fabrication?

Austech Illusions is a busy and growing manufacturing and fabrication business based in Midvale. We are looking for a reliable, motivated person to join our workshop team.

This position offers the chance to progress into a Metal Fabrication Apprenticeship for the right person.

We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to learn a trade, enjoys working with their hands and is prepared to put in the effort.

You will initially join us as a Workshop Junior / General Hand, working alongside our experienced tradespeople. Over the first few months, we will assess your attitude, reliability, practical skills and suitability for an apprenticeship.

What you'll be doing

- Cutting, grinding, drilling and preparing steel

- Assisting tradespeople with fabrication work

- Helping manufacture and assemble heavy-duty trailers

- Assisting with firefighting skids and pressure washer units

- Learning to use workshop tools and equipment safely

- Learning basic measurements and how to read drawings

- General workshop duties and keeping work areas organised

What we're looking for

- Reliable and punctual – this is extremely important

- Genuine interest in metal fabrication and learning a trade

- Good work ethic and a positive attitude

- Willingness to listen, learn and follow instructions





- Enjoys practical, hands-on work

- Basic experience using grinders, drills or cutting tools preferred

- Able to work safely and as part of a team

- Looking for long-term employment and career development

Previous workshop experience is an advantage, but not essential.

School leavers and people looking to begin a career in the trades are encouraged to apply.
