Looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity?

The rural community have expressed interest in a regular walking group inside the Coolalinga Central.

We're seeking friendly walk organisers to lead indoor walks at Coolalinga Central.

You choose the day and time, and we'll provide the air-conditioned venue!

Coolalinga Central is committed to supporting the rural community and becoming a local wellness hub.

It is a social, fun, and easy way for people to walk and be active. With more than one in four Australian adults doing very little or no exercise at all, Heart Foundation Walking is a great way to help people increase their physical activity.

Heart Foundation Walking is designed to help people enjoy regular physical activity. As well as the physical benefits, walking as part of a group can benefit your mental health too!

Over the past 30 years more than 100,000 Australians have participated in a Heart Foundation Walking group, with over 90% of participants staying active after six months of joining.

Walk Organisers come from all walks of life (no pun intended!), and all regions across Darwin.

Walk Organisers enjoy the flexibility of deciding when and how often they want to walk and reap the advantages of a healthier mind and body. You're also providing an invaluable opportunity for your community to join in a free,

social and fun way to get healthy!

Some of the roles and responsibilities of a Walk Organiser are to:

- Complete basic online training (approx. 15 minutes)
- Undertake a National Police History Check (at the cost of the Heart Foundation)
- Set up a walking group (with the help of the Heart Foundation)
- Plan a safe walking route
- Promote the walk to gain new walkers
- Attend walks and welcome new walkers
