About Us:
Lifestyle Centred Services is an NDIS and TAC registered provider of supports for people with disability and mental health support needs throughout Victoria, we provide services for people of all ages and backgrounds with a wide range of abilities and support needs.
Our person-centred approach is underpinned by the understanding that our client’s circumstances, needs, wants, and goals, are unique and valued.
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and reliable support worker to provide active overnight care in the family home for a 7-year-old girl with cerebral palsy and complex medical needs, working alongside her family and dedicated support team.
The role is within a family with two loving and joyful sisters, aged 7 and 9, who both have cerebral palsy and complex physical needs. They enjoy music, swimming, going to the beach and riding their adaptive bikes. Both girls are non-verbal, use wheelchairs and walkers, and require assistance with daily living activities.
The overnight role primarily involves respiratory monitoring and medical interventions, including BiPAP, oxygen therapy, oximetry monitoring and PEG feeding, followed by assisting with the morning routine for both girls alongside another support worker.
The ideal candidate will have relevant paediatric and complex medical care experience, be calm, attentive, organised and proactive, and genuinely enjoy working with young children. They will be comfortable working independently overnight and collaboratively with the family and support team in the morning.
Shift hours: 10:30pm–8:30am (active overnight).
Key experience and skills:
- Paediatric experience strongly preferred,
particularly supporting children with complex disabilities and medical needs.
- Previous active overnight experience essential – able to remain awake, alert and responsive throughout the shift.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with complex medical interventions essential, preferably including BiPAP, oxygen therapy, oximetry monitoring and PEG feeding.
- Confident recognising and responding to changes in medical condition and following care plans and emergency procedures.
- Experience supporting non-verbal children with significant physical disabilities, mobility limitations and all activities of daily living.
- Physically capable of assisting with active transfers, positioning and personal care, using appropriate manual handling techniques.
- Able to encourage children's independence, participation and development of skills.
- Strong spoken and written English, including accurate completion of communication books, medication charts and other documentation.
Personal qualities and approach:
- Warm, patient and genuinely enjoys working with young children.
- Highly reliable, punctual, calm and attentive, with the ability to maintain vigilance throughout an active overnight shift.
- Proactive, organised and confident working independently, with initiative in managing care routines, responding to medical concerns and completing appropriate household tasks.
- Flexible team player who communicates well and works collaboratively with parents and other support workers.
- Respectful of family routines, receptive to feedback and committed to providing consistent, high-quality care.
- Ideally seeking a regular, long-term role with the family.
Additional preferences and requirements:
- Nursing or relevant disability qualifications highly regarded, although demonstrated hands-on experience, competency and suitability for the family are the priorities.
- Strictly smoke-free and vape-free household due to the children's complex respiratory and medical needs. Support workers must not smoke or vape during shifts and must arrive free from smoke odour.
