The Whippet Club is looking for an experienced, driven and commercially minded Venue Manager to take ownership of our venue in Leederville.

We want someone who can do more than manage daily operations. We need a leader with the vision, initiative and experience to develop exciting events, build a strong weekend atmosphere, increase sales and establish The Whippet Club as a destination for food, drinks, music and social occasions.

You'll work closely with the owners, with the prospect to shape the direction of the venue, develop new ideas and make a genuine impact on business performance.

Your role

Venue leadership & operations

- Take ownership of the day-to-day running of the venue.
- Lead, motivate and develop the team to deliver excellent service.
- Manage rosters, labour costs, stock control, ordering and operating standards.
- Maintain responsible service of alcohol, workplace safety and compliance requirements.
- Ensure the venue delivers a consistently great customer experience.

Events, entertainment & nightlife

- Develop and execute a calendar of events that gives customers a reason to visit every weekend.
- Create fresh concepts for Friday and Saturday nights, including DJs, live music, themed events and special promotions.
- Source and manage DJs, live bands, performers and entertainment partners.
- Identify which events work for our audience and develop strategies to grow attendance.
- Build relationships with local promoters, businesses, artists and the wider Perth hospitality scene.

Sales, marketing & business growth

- Develop strategies to increase revenue, customer numbers and average spend.
- Drive function enquiries, group bookings, celebrations and repeat visits.
- Work with our marketing team on campaigns, social media content and event promotions.




- Identify opportunities to improve quieter trading periods and grow food and beverage sales.
- Track sales, event performance, labour costs and profitability, and report results to the owners.
- Bring forward new ideas and turn them into practical, measurable business outcomes.

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Venue Manager, Bar Manager, General Manager or in a similar senior hospitality role.
- Strong experience leading teams and managing a busy bar, pub, restaurant or entertainment venue.
- A track record of developing events, entertainment programs or promotions that attract customers.
- Commercial thinking and confidence working with sales figures, budgets and labour costs.
- Strong leadership, organisation, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Someone who takes initiative, makes decisions and follows through.
- An understanding of Perth's nightlife, hospitality and entertainment market.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and key event periods as required.

A current WA Approved Manager's certificate, or the ability to obtain one, will be highly regarded, subject to the venue's licensing requirements.
