Algorithm Cafe Marrickville Pty Ltd Location: Marrickville, NSW Salary: $80,000 per year + superannuation We are seeking an experienced Cook to join our team in a full-time, on-site role in Marrickville. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys preparing quality food and delivering consistent results in a busy café environment.

You will prepare, cook and present menu items, maintain an organised workstation, and work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to support smooth service. Key duties and responsibilities Check ingredients for freshness and quality before preparation and cooking. Prepare ingredients and cook menu items according to established recipes, customer orders and café standards.

Set and monitor temperatures of ovens, grills and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked correctly. Season food during cooking and check taste, texture and doneness to maintain consistent quality. Portion and plate meals, adding sauces and garnishes in accordance with presentation standards.

Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements and communicate allergy-related requests with the kitchen and front-of-house teams. Store ingredients and prepared food correctly in temperature-controlled facilities, following labelling, date marking and stock rotation procedures. Estimate daily preparation requirements, monitor ingredient levels and report shortages to the Head Chef or manager.

Maintain an organised workstation during preparation and service, coordinating cooking times with other kitchen staff. Follow food safety, hygiene and WHS procedures, including temperature checks, cleaning schedules and safe equipment use. Clean and maintain kitchen work areas,



utensils and equipment, and report maintenance issues promptly.

Apply portion control and minimise food waste during preparation and service. Desired skills Strong practical food preparation and cooking skills. Ability to produce consistent meals during busy service periods.

Good organisation, time management and attention to detail. Understanding of portion control, stock rotation and waste minimisation. Good communication and teamwork across the kitchen and front-of-house teams.

Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe kitchen practices. Qualifications and experience A relevant AQF Certificate IV qualification, or a relevant AQF Certificate III qualification including at least two years of on-the-job training. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.

At least one year of relevant work experience as a Cook or in a similar role in a busy commercial kitchen. A skilled attitude, reliability and the ability to contribute positively to our team. What we provide A salary of $80,000 per year plus superannuation.
