About the Opportunity

Our client is a leading aviation charter services provider specialising in fixed-wing and rotary-wing operations. They are seeking an experienced ICT Network & Systems Administrator to join their team in Nundah, Brisbane.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, security-focused IT qualified who enjoys working autonomously, solving complex technical problems and taking ownership of critical IT infrastructure.

You’ll be joining a small ICT team supporting approximately 450–500 employees, where your technical expertise, initiative and ability to manage competing priorities will make a real difference.

? Key Employment Details

- Salary: $110,000–$120,000 base + superannuation

- Location: Nundah, Brisbane QLD 4501

- Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time

- Work Arrangement: Office-based, five days per week for the first six months. After six months, the possibility of one work-from-home day per week will be reviewed.

- On-Call: One rostered on-call period once per month on average, with the ability to be contactable 24/7 as required.

? About the Role

You will play a key role in maintaining, securing and improving the organisation’s IT infrastructure, with a focus on Fortinet firewall security, Microsoft Azure virtual Windows Servers and Veeam backup solutions for Microsoft 365.

Key Responsibilities

Network Security & Fortinet Firewalls

- Configure, manage and maintain Fortinet FortiGate firewalls and security policies.

- Manage site-to-site and remote-access VPN solutions.

- Monitor network traffic, identify potential threats and respond to security incidents.

- Conduct firewall audits, configuration reviews and security updates.

Microsoft Azure & Windows Server Administration

- Deploy, manage and maintain virtual Windows Servers in Microsoft Azure.





- Perform patching, troubleshooting, system maintenance and performance optimisation.

- Implement cloud security best practices, including access controls, encryption and system hardening.

- Use PowerShell, Azure CLI and ARM templates to automate server management.

- Monitor resource utilisation and maintain a reliable, scalable Azure environment.

Veeam Backup & Microsoft 365

- Administer Veeam backup solutions for Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams.

- Monitor backup jobs, troubleshoot failures and ensure data protection processes are effective.

- Perform data restores and support recovery requests.

- Maintain backup documentation, recovery procedures and reporting.

Technical Support & Infrastructure Improvement

- Provide high-level technical support across network security, cloud infrastructure and backup systems.

- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and minimise business disruption.

- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on infrastructure upgrades, security initiatives and IT projects.

- Maintain accurate technical documentation and provide regular updates to management.

? About You

You’re a proactive, hands-on IT professional who can work independently, think on your feet and confidently manage competing priorities.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

- Strong practical experience with Fortinet FortiGate firewalls, VPNs and network security policies.

- Proven experience administering virtual Windows Server environments in Microsoft Azure.





- Knowledge of cloud security, access management and infrastructure optimisation.

- Experience with Veeam backup and recovery solutions for Microsoft 365.

- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure.

- Strong planning and organisational skills, including preparing equipment and resources for field-based tasks.

- The ability to work autonomously and manage priorities with minimal supervision.

- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

- Willingness to participate in a monthly on-call roster and be contactable as required.

Desirable Experience

- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related discipline.

- Relevant certifications, such as Fortinet NSE, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate or Veeam certifications.

- Experience with PowerShell, Azure CLI and ARM templates for automation.
