The Role

You'll own backend projects end-to-end, from solution design to production, across our Node.js/TypeScript services and AWS infrastructure. Your impact is the systems you build and the quality standards you set. This role requires 4 days in office, 1 day option WFH

What You'll Do
Architect and implement backend services and APIs in Node.js and TypeScript
Lead technical design: Write RFCs, ADRs, and make pragmatic architecture calls
Own projects end-to-end: From solution design to deployment
Build and maintain AWS infrastructure as code (Lambda, ECS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, EventBridge)
Raise the bar on code review, AI assisted code, automated testing, CI/CD and observabilit
Act as an escalation point for backend and infrastructure incidents
Mentor engineers through pairing and design feedback





What You'll Bring
6+ years of backend engineering, with strong Node.js and TypeScript
Production experience with AWS, ideally serverless and event-driven architectures
Infrastructure as code (Terraform or CloudFormation)
A track record of owning the technical design and delivery of complex projects
A security-first mindset: least-privilege IAM, secrets management, secure coding
Experience with observability tooling and production incident response
You can clearly explain trade-offs to engineers and non-engineers
Sense of urgency to deliver incremental value at speed

Nice to Have

• IoT, wearables or device integrations

• Experience with privacy and compliance requirements (e.g. SOC 2, GDPR)

• Experience and an interest in fast-moving engineering teams
