Our work reflects our values of Carer focus, Respect, Openness & Inclusivity, and Accountability.About the roleThis position is responsible for supporting and contributing to the work of the Carers NSW Policy Team by undertaking research, consultation, policy analysis and systemic advocacy in relation to issues affecting carers.This is a fixed term contract position to 30 June ****.Key responsibilitiesUndertake relevant policy work in accordance with the annual Carers NSW Business PlanUndertake research and policy analysis on issues affecting carers as requiredLiaise with various government and non-government organisations to ensure that carers are considered in policy development and program deliveryCoordinate and facilitate consultations and focus groups with carers and service providers to inform policy development and program deliveryDevelop and contribute to policy submissions,



conference presentations and articles for journals and other publications on carers and Carers NSW programsPrepare information on carer policy and programs for the Carers NSW website and Carers NSW publicationsRepresent Carers NSW in advisory bodies and other forums as requiredCollect and collate data regarding the effectiveness of the projectProvide reports on progress of the projectComply with Carers NSW Policies and Procedures and all other legislative requirementsAbout youQualifications in Social or Political Science, Public Health or other relevant areasUnderstanding of NSW and Australian Government policy developmentDemonstrated skills in preparing reports and other documents to a high standardProven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government, non-government and community organisationsDemonstrated ability to represent Carers NSW policy positions and to speak publiclyDemonstrated research skills, including the ability to collate data and formulate policy statements and responses to sector inquiriesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamDesirable: Relevant experience working in ageing, disability, health, mental health or carer related areasAbout usCarers NSW is committed to the Vision, Mission, Values and Strategic Plan.
