An opportunity has become available for an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of the payroll function, working closely with Finance and People & Culture.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a stand-alone position responsible for overseeing payroll operations, ensuring compliance and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of payroll information.
The business operates an outsourced payroll model, so rather than processing every pay run yourself, you'll coordinate with the external payroll provider, oversee payroll activities, manage reconciliations and resolve payroll queries.
You'll be the internal payroll subject matter expert, with support and back-up available from the Finance team.
Your responsibilities will include:
Coordinating payroll activities with the outsourced payroll provider, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
Reviewing payroll reports, reconciliations and variances prior to final approval
Managing employee commencements, terminations, changes, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments
Ensuring compliance with relevant awards, employment legislation, superannuation, PAYG and payroll tax obligations
Maintaining payroll controls, procedures and accurate employee records
Managing and maintaining the payroll system, including data integrity,



pay rules and working with the vendor on system configuration
Investigating payroll discrepancies and responding to employee and management enquiries
Preparing payroll reports and providing information to support month-end accounting and financial reporting
Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, systems and controls
About You
We're looking for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work and has the technical knowledge and confidence to manage a payroll function independently.
You'll ideally bring:
Strong experience in Australian payroll, including end-to-end payroll processing or oversight
Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and modern Awards
Strong payroll systems capability
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
The confidence to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and provide payroll advice to internal stakeholders
A practical, approachable communication style and a willingness to work collaboratively with the broader Finance team
The Benefits
Negotiable salary up to $120,000 + superannuation, depending on experience
Annual bonus opportunity
Permanent, full-time position
Coomera location with on-site parking
38-hour working week, with hours worked between 8.00am and 5.00pm
Predominantly office-based, with ad-hoc work-from-home flexibility when needed
No expected overtime or requirement to work public holidays
